Tuberculosis Information For Medical Providers

The San Francisco Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Medical Clinic provides treatment to all people with active tuberculosis (TB) who live in the City and County of San Francisco. Our medical director is Dr. Janice Louie, MD. Our clinic is staffed by infectious disease and pulmonary expert providers, fellows, and residents from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, University of California- San Francisco, and the California Department of Public Health. Every City and County of San Francisco resident diagnosed with active TB is case managed by our experienced TB Nurse Case Managers. In addition to providing care and case management for active TB patients, TB Clinic provides expert consultation, guidance and recommendations about latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) screening, diagnosis, and treatment. We also provide care to folks with complicated LTBI.

  • Please see our resources for medical providers on the right sidebar
  • If you need consultation, please see Tuberculosis Clinic Referrals Criteria on the right sidebar

*Clinical alert*

There is an ongoing shortage of rifapentine. Prior to prescribing, we recommend you call your patient’s pharmacy to check to see if it is in stock and if they have enough for a course of treatment.
